Art to Thrive Brings Creative Wellness to Downtown Bradenton

This expressive art series blends creativity, mindfulness, and mental health. It's open to all, and no artistic experience is needed.

Art to Thrive counselor Jessica Hamilton in Bradenton

Not every path to feeling better starts on a therapist's couch.

Jessica Hamilton knows this better than most. She's a licensed mental health counselor with 20 years in the field, and she'll be the first to tell you that for a lot of people, the barriers to getting help are real. For some, it’s the cost, time, or stigma. For others, it’s not knowing where to start.

So she built something with a lower threshold.

“I created Art to Thrive because I believe art has a unique ability to reach parts of ourselves that words sometimes cannot,” says Jessica. “Through color, texture, and imagery-based activities, we can slow down, process emotions, release what feels heavy, and discover new perspectives along the way.”

Each session includes an introduction to a topic, a short guided meditation, an expressive art activity, and group reflection. The group setting also helps participants relax, let down their guard, and feel less alone in the process. You also don’t need any artistic experience. Instead, these workshops are all about the process, the reflection, and having the space to reconnect with yourself.

“Art becomes more than something we make,” Jessica explains. “It becomes a bridge from overwhelm to clarity, from self-doubt to empowerment, and from simply surviving to truly thriving.”

Upcoming Workshops in June

Jessica’s Art to Thrive Workshops are held in Downtown Bradenton. They’re open to everyone, and cost just $40, including all materials.

On June 13th, participants will make intentional touchstone pendants connected to a personal or business goal.

The pendant becomes a small, physical reminder of what they want to focus on. It may represent clarity, confidence, patience, courage, or whatever feels grounding for the season they’re in. LEARN MORE & GET YOUR TICKETS

June 27th’s workshop focuses on creating tiny tins that represent tools for moving through challenging times.

Your tins might include reminders, symbols, colors, textures, or words that help you feel more grounded when life gets heavy. LEARN MORE & GET YOUR TICKETS

There will be additional workshops scheduled in July and August. You can follow Thistle and Thrive Wellness Counseling on Facebook to keep up with event announcements and other updates.

Beyond the Workshops: Counseling That Centers on Strengths

Jessica founded Thistle and Thrive Wellness Counseling two years ago after spending the bulk of her career in the nonprofit sector. Her work is grounded in a simple belief: people already carry strengths that can help them move forward. Jessica’s role is to help clients identify what’s working, understand what matters to them, and build practical tools that fit their real lives.

She works with adults struggling with anxiety, overthinking, trauma, relationship communication, and professional development. Private, one-on-one sessions are held virtually from the comfort of your home or in-person at her downtown Bradenton location.

Thistle and Thrive is a private-pay practice, meaning Jessica doesn’t accept insurance. This is intentional. It gives her more flexibility to shape sessions around the client’s needs, rather than insurance paperwork, diagnostic requirements, or strict session limits. It also gives clients more privacy and control over their care.

Pricing is simple and transparent: $75 for a 30-minute session and $125 for 60 minutes.

The Meaning Behind Thistle and Thrive

The name Thistle & Thrive is rooted in the symbolism of the thistle plant, which is known for growing in harsh conditions, coming back after being cut down, and surviving where other things don't. This strength, resiliency, and determination align with Jessica’s core values.

She believes that healing and growth happen when a person feels supported, understood, and encouraged to tap into their own inner strengths.

Whether you're ready for one-on-one counseling or just want to try something new in a low-pressure setting, there's a place for you at Thistle and Thrive.
