Swim Manatee 2026: Free Swim Lessons for Kids in Bradenton

Classes are held throughout June and July.

Published Feb 27, 2026

Swim Manatee is back this summer, bringing free swim lessons to families across Bradenton. The program takes place at GT Bray Park and is designed for beginner swimmers who have little to no experience in the water. Here in Florida, swimming is part of everyday life, and learning water safety early truly matters.

The program is led by Amanda Girton, owner of Sunshine Swimming. Amanda has worked with families throughout Manatee County teaching kids how to feel confident and safe in the water. Swim Manatee reflects her heart for the community and her belief that every child should have access to basic swim skills, regardless of financial barriers.

Here's How it Works

Each child who registers receives four free swim lessons. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout June and July, giving families flexibility when choosing a session.

Lessons focus on water safety, basic swim skills, and helping kids grow more comfortable in the water step by step. Swimmers learn in a supportive group setting where they can build confidence at their own pace. Parents simply need to send their child with a swimsuit and towel for each lesson.

Swim Manatee is fully funded through community support and a partnership with Step Into Swim, which allows the program to remain completely free for participating families.

Who's It For

Swim Manatee is created specifically for beginner swimmers. It's ideal for children who are just starting out or who still feel unsure in the water. The goal is to help them develop foundational skills that make pool days, beach trips, and boat outings safer throughout the year.

Living on the Gulf Coast means water is always nearby. Programs like this help equip kids with skills that stay with them long after summer ends.

How to Register

Spaces are limited and fill up quickly each year. To sign up:

  1. Visit the Swim Manatee page.

  2. Choose the session that fits your schedule and swimmer age.

  3. Complete the online registration form.

  4. Show up and swim.

Summer in Bradenton always includes time in the water. Swim Manatee 2026 helps local kids step into that season with confidence and stronger safety skills.
