Keep Manatee Beautiful is calling on the community to take part in the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 7. The cleanup runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with activities focused along the Manatee Avenue Causeway and Perico Island. This effort is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at improving public spaces through hands-on service.
Local waterways and shorelines see heavy use year-round, and events like this help keep those areas clean and safe. Volunteers will work together to remove litter and debris while supporting the long-term health of the environment.

Several cleanup options are available, allowing participants to sign up for the area that fits them best. A water-based cleanup is open to those who bring their own kayak or paddlecraft. Land-based efforts include a beach cleanup at Kingfish Boat Ramp, a causeway cleanup at Palma Sola Causeway, and a roadside cleanup at Neal Preserve.
Volunteer check-in begins at 9:00 AM, followed by organized cleanup activities from 9:30 AM until noon. Supplies will be available on site, and lunch will be provided to all registered volunteers.
