The holiday season often brings families together in ways that remind us how important it is to honor the people we love. It's also a natural moment to pause and consider the traditions, memories, and milestones that shape a family's story.
When it's time to put these memories into words, Reverend Elizabeth Turk does it with clarity and care.
She has spent more than 20 years guiding people through moments that matter, from joyful unions to heartfelt goodbyes. Her work is personal, grounded, and shaped entirely around the stories families want to share.
Reverend Turk officiates services from Naples to Clearwater and from Palm Beach to Indian River County, as well as writing services for families across the country. She serves those of all faiths and backgrounds, creating Celebrations of Life that feel intimate, meaningful, and true to the person being honored. She also assists with Jewish burials and provides military services throughout the area, including at Sarasota National Cemetery.
The Work Behind the Words
Reverend Turk doesn't believe in using templates or AI to create her services. Each service is written from scratch, shaped by the stories families share and the legacy their loved one left behind.
The pace can be intense. You'll often find her traveling across the state to be there for families who need her, or working until 2 am to finish a ceremony for a family member performing a service overseas. But that's the nature of the work. Loss doesn't wait, and neither does she.
Celebrating Life Before It's Over
Reverend Turk also offers several unique services, including Celebrations of Life for the Living. It's an experience that allows people to hear the stories, feel the love, and experience the gathering while they're still here to appreciate it.
The idea originally came from a real-life experience: "Years ago, I had the privilege to celebrate the life of a beautiful woman who was battling stage 4 cancer, and she knew her time was brief, says Turk.
She asked her family to please have her life celebration with her there. She wanted to hear her loved ones' stories, memories, and dreams for the future, but more importantly, she wanted to be there."
A Unique Way to Say Goodbye
In partnership with Discover Sarasota Tours, Reverend Turk also offers the Celebration of Life Trolley Service, a meaningful way to honor someone by visiting the places that mattered to them.
From a favorite beach to a beloved restaurant, each stop becomes part of the story. The trolley can be followed by a service at the location of your choice, such as a funeral home, country club, or your backyard.
A Steady Hand for Life's Tender Moments
Reverend Turk also officiates weddings and vow renewals through her sister business, Romantic Vows, and she makes every moment just as special.
Recently, she had the honor of renewing the vows of a couple she had married 10 years earlier on Siesta Key. They flew in specifically for her to perform the ceremony at the exact same spot, and afterward, the bride had written that the words she spoke had "melted her".
