Open Enrollment is Here!

Local Medicare professional Norm Smith explains why reviewing your coverage during Open Enrollment can help you understand plan changes and choose coverage that better fits your healthcare needs.

Here we are at the Open Enrollment Period! And we have until 12/7/2026 to make a decision: Do we stay with the Medicare choice we made when first eligible? Or do I investigate whether there’s a better plan for me now?

Each year, changes are made to Medicare. Almost always on the Prescription Plans, but there are changes to deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, in or out of network costs, plan allowances, etc. Then the concern is whether the same doctors, facilities, or hospitals will continue to accept your plan.

Secondarily, how has your health changed? What health risks are you potentially subject to as you age? What is the family history? What have you been exposed to in your working career that may be a concern for development? Vaccines, diet, exercise, and travel all have to be concerns as well!

It is for those reasons that I strongly encourage people to sit with a knowledgeable professional and find what the next year offers that is in YOUR best interest!

You have nothing, if not for your health. Invest in yourself. Invest in your future. Have the conversation!
