Blue Butterfly at Tidewell Grief Care

No child grieves alone at Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center

The Blue Butterfly Family Grief Center is a Tidewell Hospice program that helps grieving children and teens, ages 5-18, through peer-support groups and activities.

Families may enroll regardless of when the death occurred and regardless if there was a previous relationship with Tidewell Hospice or not. Blue Butterfly groups are facilitated by mental health professionals and trained volunteers. The facilitators use evidence-based interventions that support children and families on their grief journey.

Here is what you need to know:

  • Group open to children, ages 5-18 and their caregivers, who have had a death of a Special Person in their lives.

  • All groups are facilitated by clinical professionals and supported by trained volunteers.

  • Please call 941-893-6610 to enroll your family.

  • Meetings will take place twice per month from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • Group sessions begin with a family-style dinner provided by Tidewell.

  • Children and teens will be divided into age-appropriate groups.

  • Caregivers will simultaneously meet in their own group for fellowship and education.

  • Sessions include peer group support, art, games, music, and fellowship.

Finally a united group that will be the host our local Scottish Highland Games!! Many of us are looking forward to the inaugural event that will be held on Saturday Feb 10th at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto FL. A much larger venue than the Sarasota Fairgrounds!! I understand there will be a pipe band competition and a challenge between the Manatee County Sheriff's office and the EMT's in the actual Highland Games competition. See you in February!!

Once a PACE girl, always a PACE girl. Being part of PACE Center for Girls' first graduating class was transformative. PACE provided unwavering support during challenging times, boosting my confidence and helping me discover my true potential. The staff's personalized attention and encouragement were instrumental in overcoming obstacles and achieving academic success. PACE is more than an institution; it's a caring community that goes beyond academics. Thank you, PACE Center for Girls, for making a profound difference in my life.
