Feeding Empty Little Tummies (FELT)

Feeding Empty Little Tummies is dedicated to feeding Manatee County’s most needy – homeless students – one backpack at a time! F.E.L.T. foundress, Jane L. Evers, realized Manatee County had a dark secret. We are home to thousands of homeless students who go hungry every weekend.

In 2010 Jane introduced Feeding Empty Little Tummies to three Manatee County public schools. We now service 50 schools and our numbers are increasing. Jane’s vision to provide nutritious meals to homeless students is still being fulfilled by our dedicated board, volunteers, and community leaders. We are currently feeding 800 students per week! We are always looking for volunteers and business partners to come alongside us and help us feed these students.

Feeding Empty Little Tummies is a great charity that helps so many! It not only Feeds Manatee County's homeless and in need students on the weekends but it is also a great place to serve! It's perfect for individuals to volunteer or for whole groups to come in and volunteer together!

Feeding Empty Little Tummies is one of the best organizations I joined since moving back to FL. Their focus is feeding Manatee County children with food insecurities. FELT does this incredibly well. They provide weekly backpacks of food for a child every Friday consisting of nutritious meals and snacks to get them through the weekend. The volunteers I have met have the best hearts and are committed to helping make sure our youth have nourishment so that they can learn. The staff works tirelessly to make sure no child who qualifies goes without. Manatee County is blessed to have FELT, the FELT volunteers and the many business partners that keep this organization feeding our food insecure youth.

I have been volunteering with FELT for five years. It is a wonderful organization with great dedicated leaders and volunteers. I have sadly seen the number of children needing assistance grow every year, but FELT rises to the challenge to provide help for the children of Manatee County.

Finally a united group that will be the host our local Scottish Highland Games!! Many of us are looking forward to the inaugural event that will be held on Saturday Feb 10th at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto FL. A much larger venue than the Sarasota Fairgrounds!! I understand there will be a pipe band competition and a challenge between the Manatee County Sheriff's office and the EMT's in the actual Highland Games competition. See you in February!!

Once a PACE girl, always a PACE girl. Being part of PACE Center for Girls' first graduating class was transformative. PACE provided unwavering support during challenging times, boosting my confidence and helping me discover my true potential. The staff's personalized attention and encouragement were instrumental in overcoming obstacles and achieving academic success. PACE is more than an institution; it's a caring community that goes beyond academics. Thank you, PACE Center for Girls, for making a profound difference in my life.
