As we continue to encourage all Manatee County residents to #SupportLocal, we think it’s important to get to know the people behind some of the area’s best businesses! Welcome to this week’s edition of Discover Bradenton Business Spotlight. We recently had a chance to catch up with Michael Santus and Andrew Littorno, owners of The Blue Flamingo gift shop in Bradenton. Here’s what they had to say…
Can you tell us a little bit about why you love what you do? What is it about your business that makes you so passionate?
“We enjoy being gift-givers and always strive to obtain unique and interesting gifts for friends and family. Also, we truly believe in shopping local and supporting our community.” |
What’s your favorite thing about owning a business in Bradenton?
“Bradenton is surprisingly full of amazing and interesting artists that work with various mediums and are always raising the bar on creativity and design.” |
What do you want people to know about your business?
“The Blue Flamingo was born out of a desire to sail our own course and to share our passion for unique, quirky, and one-of-a-kind items. Inside our shop, you will find up-cycled and repurposed goods, renewed furniture, décor, jewelry, and many other unique items from several local artisans. We’re a growing gift and furniture store and we work tirelessly to make The Blue Flamingo a shopping destination.”
What’s your favorite way to #SupportLocal?
“We shop local whenever we can. It sometimes costs slightly more, but we feel good about making sure our money goes back into our community, not to a CFO 5 states away.”

I shop at this store frequently. It always has something new and unique that you can’t find somewhere else. I call it my happy place because the atmosphere is so relaxed and the owners so friendly and accommodating.
