As we continue to encourage all Manatee County residents to #SupportLocal, we think it’s important to get to know the people behind some of the area’s best businesses!
In this edition of the Discover Bradenton Business Spotlight, we were excited to have a chance to catch up with Jonathan Marsh, owner of Home Helpers Home Care of Bradenton. Here’s what he had to say…
Can you tell us a little bit about your business?
At Home Helpers Home Care of Bradenton, we provide compassionate, personalized in-home care for seniors and individuals with special needs. Our services include assistance with daily activities, respite care, and our Cared-4 program, which combines caregiving, wellness calls, and safety monitoring.
When did you start your business, and what inspired you to launch it?
I started Home Helpers Home Care of Bradenton in 2015, inspired by my late grandmother’s care journey. Seeing the challenges faced by both my grandmother and her caregiver, my late cousin, drove me to create a service that supports both clients and caregivers with compassion and understanding.
Why do you love what you do? What is it about your business that makes you so passionate?
I love helping others, and my business allows me to do just that. Each day, we help people in the community stay safe and comfortable at home, many of whom wouldn’t be able to remain there without our care. It’s fulfilling to know we’re making a real difference in their lives.
Why did you choose Bradenton for your business location?
As a Tampa Bay native, I wanted to stay in the area I’ve always called home. I chose Manatee County because I fell in love with the community and its growth, and I knew it would be a great place to make a positive impact through our in-home care services.
What’s your favorite thing about living in and/or having a business in Bradenton?
My favorite thing about owning a business in Bradenton is the opportunity it gives me to connect with and contribute to the community. It’s allowed me to serve as a board member with the Manatee Chamber, a Men Wear Pink Ambassador, and a leader of the Manatee County Falls Prevention Coalition.
What’s one interesting fact you want people to know about your business and/or industry?
One key aspect of in-home care is the concept of ‘caregiver burden.’ Family caregivers often face stress and exhaustion from their duties. Professional care services can provide much-needed support, helping them recharge and maintain their well-being while ensuring loved ones receive quality care.
What’s your favorite way to #SupportLocal?
My favorite way to #SupportLocal is by partnering with other small businesses for community events and services. I also love visiting local restaurants, shops, and markets, and I’m always looking for ways to give back and engage with the amazing Bradenton community.
When you’re not working, what’s your favorite thing to do?
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family, friends, and my rescue pets (multiple dogs and cats). I also enjoy learning new things, so I often find myself researching and getting hands-on with different projects. It keeps life interesting and fun!
What else do you want us to know?
My guiding principle comes from Maya Angelou’s quote: ‘I do my best because I’m counting on you counting on me.’ It reminds me to always be dependable and supportive, whether for family, friends, or the community. To me, it’s about showing up and being there for others when they need it most.
