Feeding Empty Little Tummies (FELT)
Feeding Empty Little Tummies is dedicated to feeding Manatee County’s most needy – homeless students – one backpack at a time! F.E.L.T. foundress, Jane L. Evers, realized Manatee County had a dark secret. We are home to thousands of homeless students who go hungry every weekend.
In 2010 Jane introduced Feeding Empty Little Tummies to three Manatee County public schools. We now service 50 schools and our numbers are increasing. Jane’s vision to provide nutritious meals to homeless students is still being fulfilled by our dedicated board, volunteers, and community leaders. We are currently feeding 800 students per week! We are always looking for volunteers and business partners to come alongside us and help us feed these students.

I have volunteered with FELT for the last 5 years while working for Bank of America. This is an organization that takes care of our local children with the most special of needs. So happy that they have been able expand their location to help even more children in Manatee County.

I have been volunteering with FELT for five years. It is a wonderful organization with great dedicated leaders and volunteers. I have sadly seen the number of children needing assistance grow every year, but FELT rises to the challenge to provide help for the children of Manatee County.

One of the single biggest factors in children falling behind at school is lack of nutrition. No kid should be distracted from being a kid over concerns of hunger and thoughts of where their next meal will come from. Regardless of your views, no child is ever responsible for the socioeconomic conditions that affect their life. These innocent children are at the mercy of their situation and can only overcome it through amazing organizations such as FELT. They work tirelessly to support our young generation to ensure they have the nutrition necessary to focus on school, focus on being kids and focus on improving their future to break the cycle of poverty and starvation. I am a very proud to have a group like FELT in Manatee County. Thank you for all you do!
