Jan Lewis Fine Art: A Gorgeous New Gallery in the Village of the Arts

Jan Lewis Fine Art, a new gallery in Bradenton's Village of the Arts, is a welcome addition. Here's everything you need to know.

Bradenton’s Village of the Arts is booming. It seems like every time you turn around there’s a new gallery or artistic business opening its doors.

One of the newest galleries to come on the scene, Jan Lewis Fine Art, is a welcome addition. It’s a bright, airy space where you’ll find a wide range of beautiful paintings, photographs, and mixed media art.

Owner and artist Jan Lewis has been living in Bradenton seasonally for several years. She displayed her artwork in other VOTA studios, like The Dancing Crane Gallery, before coming across the opportunity to acquire land in the village and build her own gallery. While most of the VOTA galleries are housed in quaint, bunglow-style homes, building her studio from the ground up gave her the opportunity to create a decidedly modern space that’s reminiscent of galleries you would expect to see in large cities.

Jan’s work spans a variety of different styles including expressionist, abstract, and realistic. She has also been exploring various media including watercolor, pastels, and India ink.

When asked about the inspiration behind her art, she said that every piece she creates is a culmination of her entire life experience so far. A Georgia Native, Jan now splits her time between Florida and Colorado. It makes sense, then, that many of her pieces feature western landscapes and beach scenes from both coasts. You’ll also find many pieces that have interesting personal stories behind them, like “Girl Shaving,” “Lady in Red,” and “Street Kid” (pictured above).

Much of the artwork is rotated every month, usually coinciding with the monthly ArtWalk theme. This means you can visit the gallery frequently and have a completely different experience every time.

We suggest you stop by soon to meet the artist and see this beautiful work for yourself. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am until 4 pm (closed Sunday and Monday).

You can also visit during ArtWalk held on the first Friday of every month from 6 pm until 9:30 pm and the first Saturday of the month from 11 am until 4 pm. This month’s theme is “Walk on the Wild Side,” so you can expect to see many landscapes and animal paintings during the month of March.

Jan Lewis Gallery is located at 1110 12th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205 (see map).

While you’re in the Village of the Arts, make sure you check out some of the other awesome area attractions like Birdrock Taco Shack, The Village Mystic, Art Junkies, and The Dude and Mary’s Art of Life and Music.
