Local Artist and Tutor Launches ‘Meet the Masters’ – A Journey Through Art History for Kids

Are your kids getting enough art education at school? If you’re like many parents, especially those who homeschool, the answer might be ‘not really.’

Well, there’s good news: Chris MacCormack, a local artist and educator in West Bradenton, has an exciting solution. She’s launching a ‘Meet the Masters’ program that will bring art history to life for young learners in a fun, hands-on way.

What is ‘Meet the Masters’?

‘Meet the Masters’ is a complete art education program designed for schools, homeschool groups, and small studio groups. During the last 25 years, three million children have learned to appreciate art history and found a love of creating artwork through this program.

It features three age-appropriate levels. There are 7 semester-long tracks and 35 famous artists. For example, Track A presents the life and work of Van Gogh, Cassatt, Mondrian, Picasso, and Monet.

Students will learn art theory and practice techniques related to each artist presented. Then, they’ll create their own work of art similar to that of the featured artist. During the course, students experiment with different mediums, such as pastels, paper, and paint. No matter what their age, they’ll leave feeling a sense of pride in their work.

Meet the Teacher: Who is Chris MacCormack?

Chris MacCormack is a West Bradenton artist, teacher, and tutor. After studying Track A, she was extremely impressed with the curriculum and is now licensed to offer these courses to nearby students and homeschool co-ops in her home studio.

Join the Fall Semester

The ‘Meet the Masters Course’ is currently open to children in 4th grade and up. These in-person classes will be held in small groups of 3-5 students for the fall semester. They are only available to the West Bradenton community.

Class dates and times are still being finalized. Please contact Chris at maccormc@msn.com or 941-757-7557 to discuss this or other options for art classes for children. You can also learn more at ArtByCMac.com.
