For the past 10 years, local residents have flocked to the waterways to watch The Lucky Ducky Race for Pace. This super-popular fundraiser for Pace Center for Girls of Manatee County was delayed this year due to COVID-19 — but nothing can stop Quacky and her ducklings!

The event officially re-launched on August 22nd and the race is scheduled for September 19th. On that day, Pace staff and volunteers will drop thousands of rubber ducks into the water and watch them “race” to the finish line. The person lucky enough to adopt the winning duck will win a 2-year lease on a new Jeep or $5,000! There are also other great prizes, including dinner for two at Anna Maria Oyster Bar every week for a WHOLE YEAR!

Things are a little bit different this year, but that won’t stop the fun! While only essential staff and volunteers will attend the race, EVERYONE can watch the live stream!

You can get in on the fun by adopting a few ducklings of your own. A “Lonely Duck” is just $5.00. You can also purchase a “Quack Pack” of 5 ducks for $20.00 or an entire “Flock of Ducks” (30) for $100.00.

While it may seem like all fun and games, you’re not just “adopting a duck,” you’re helping a girl.

Adopt a Single Duck and you’ll provide a Pace girl with the essential supplies she needs to succeed in her academics.

Purchase a Quack Pack and you’ll cover the cost of a 1-month student pass on the MCAT bus.

Want to really make a difference? The money you’ll pay for a Flock of Ducks is enough to provide a Pace girl and her family with an initial counseling and goal-setting session. This helps her find out why she had trouble in public school and sets her on the path towards future success.

This year is Pace Center for Girls of Manatee’s 30th anniversary. In celebration, they’ve set a goal of racing at least 30,000 ducks this year.

You can adopt your duck today by following this link or purchase them at area locations including all of the Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurants, Peach’s restaurants, Sonny’s BBQ, and Caddy’s Bradenton.

Details regarding the race livestream, including the time and link to watch, will be released soon. Follow PACE Center for Girls Manatee on Facebook to keep up with all of the latest updates.
