There are so many interesting and exciting people and places in Bradenton, yet many don’t receive the attention they truly deserve. Over the next several months, Discover Bradenton will be uncovering Manatee County’s best “hidden gems” – the locals making waves and must-visit places that are some of the area’s best-kept secrets.
This week, we were thrilled to connect with Anton Sierra, owner of FEWD Tent Catering Co.
Check out his story – it’s one you won’t want to miss…
Let’s start at the beginning. Tell us a bit about what led you to start your business and the journey to where you are today.
I started my little taco tent during COVID, for “Donations” to keep food on the table for my family.
FEWD actually stands for “Feed Everyone Who Donates.” Shortly after, I was approached by a local bar owner who loved the food. We partnered with Paddy Wagon Irish Pub and grew from there.
That’s such a cool story! So, tell us more about your business.
FEWD Tent has been serving our neighbors since March of 2020. While we service all 67 counties in Florida, Manatee county is home and our primary operational area. Boasting 2 consecutive “Bradentons Best Taco” awards 2023-2024, we’ve grown to quite the cult favorite. We proudly remain a local secret.
Is your business a family affair, a partnership, or a solo venture? How does this shape your business operations and community interactions?
At the moment, the operation is mostly a solo gig, with me doing the lion’s share of tasks. But we do use local industry staff for bigger bookings. Clients enjoy the intimate setups and personal interaction provided. It has allowed us to build long-lasting, fruitful relationships within the community.
What is it about your business that makes you so passionate?
The professional and personal relationships I’ve built with my community are unmatched. Providing quality products and service through my passion for cuisine has opened many opportunities. I’ve struck up so many friendships and I’m proud to be of service to my neighbors.
So tell us about the food. What are the most popular menu items?
We’re seriously known for having the best Beef Birria tacos. They’re slow-roasted, seared to order, and served with our proprietary chile consume. Rice bowls are also a city favorite.Â
Our savory arroz con gandules are also a great option. They’re topped high with a choice of protein, fresh pico, cotija cheese, and finished with our ever-famous Red/Green Sauce.Â
We all know Manatee County is a pretty special place – but can you tell us why you chose this location for your business?
Manatee County is home. The legends of “The Hot Dog Cart Guy” in front of Old Main, or “Counsels napkin burger” sparked inspiration to be written into local history. I feel like I’m leaving a legacy for my kids in the city they were born. There’s nothing better than that.
I love that! And how does your business engage with the local community or give back?
While partnering with local donations and donating time to food banks quietly, we also lean into providing for our first responders. All first responder staff eat free, and we also offer deeply discounted or donated food for our County workers. We’re also excited to be participating in the Downtown Bradenton Market and other city events with Realize Bradenton.
Before we wrap up, what else do you want us to know?
FEWD Tent was built from necessity. It’s a community-supported dream that happened to become my job.
The connections and neighborly support provided are why we are here. It’s my pleasure to proudly serve Manatee County.
