Nonprofit Spotlight: Bradenton Kiwanis Club

This week, we were thrilled to catch up with the Bradenton Kiwanis Club to learn more about their mission and how we can help. Here's what they had to say.

Can you tell us a little bit about your mission and how you help to support our community?

The mission of the Bradenton Kiwanis Club is to create “A Better Way of Life… A Better Bradenton.” Since our club was founded in 1922, we have built a reputation for seeking out what needs to be done to help our children and our community and working together to make each project a reality.

Our members are community leaders who proudly believe our organization is the absolute best opportunity to get engaged in the community and make a positive difference.

Who do you serve and why?

We primarily serve children and organizations that support children throughout Manatee County. Our organization consistently engages in community service projects including food packing for Kids Against Hunger and the Food Bank of Manatee, ringing bells for The Salvation Army, helping out at the Boys and Girls Club of Manatee’s Christmas Tree Lot, volunteering at the annual Jerry Hill Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament, and more.

We also give out a significant number of grants to local organizations that do work that is in line with our mission. Just last month, we donated over $177,000 to a variety of organizations including Manatee County 4-H, HOPE Family Services, Take Stock in Children of Manatee County, The City of Bradenton Police Department, and more.

What’s the best way for the community to get involved?

We are always looking for new members! We have several membership options to choose from, including a full club membership, family membership, and our Club Satellite. If you’re curious about the club, you’re always welcome to visit as a guest.

Our weekly lunch meetings are held every Tuesday from 12 to 1:15 pm in Kiwanis Hall, located on the 2nd floor of the Manatee Performing Arts Center. We always have interesting speakers and a delicious lunch! If daytime meetings don’t work for you, you’re also welcome to visit our Club Satellite, which meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm, at different locations around the area.

We’re also always happy to accept donations to the Bradenton Kiwanis Foundation.
