During our nonprofit spotlight series, we’ll highlight information about a different local nonprofit each week. This week, we were thrilled to chat with His Seeds & Vines Foundation to learn more about their mission and how we can help. Here’s what they had to say.
Can you tell us a little bit about your mission and how you help to support our community?
His Seeds & Vines Foundation (HSV) is a Faith-based organization committed to helping reduce recidivism rates in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Desoto, Hardee, and Tampa Bay Counties in Florida by providing safe and clean housing for formerly incarcerated men. We focus on transformational living, career placement, mental health, and life and social skills training.
Who do you serve and why?
We serve Formerly Incarcerated men. HSV Foundation originated from the founder’s experiences in Prison Ministry at his local church. Through this ministry, he formed meaningful relationships with men who attended services in the Chapel. Many shared their greatest challenge: transitioning back into society after release. Often, they faced returning to the same troubled areas or becoming homeless due to limited financial resources and difficulties finding employment. God put it in his heart to find a way to help them transform their lives.
Can you describe a few of your key programs?
Transitional Housing: We provide secure, clean transitional housing with dedicated support to assist with successful social reintegration for the men.
Life Essentials: We also offer training in life skills, self-care, and daily responsibilities to foster independence.
Career Support: Our program helps the men secure employment that encourages career progression, instilling confidence, and paving the way to financial independence.
