There are many nonprofit organizations in Bradenton and the surrounding area. Each one is doing incredible work to support our community by helping those less fortunate, promoting the arts, providing education, and more.

During our nonprofit spotlight series, we’ll highlight information about a different local nonprofit each week. This week, we were thrilled to chat with Loveland Center to learn more about their mission and how we can help. Here’s what they had to say.

Can you tell us a little bit about your mission and how you help to support our community?

Loveland Center supports both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their lives to the fullest through life skills development programs.

Who do you serve and why?

We serve both children and adults with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, intellectual disabilities, and more, to help them live independent and productive lives.

Can you describe a few of your key programs?

• Adult Day Training – providing life skills training and support to individuals to help them live as independently as possible.
• Recreation – supporting community-based activities for adults with disabilities.
• After-school HERO program – for children aged 4-22 with and without disabilities.
• Therapy services – offering Occupational, Speech, and Physical therapy at the ADT and after-school programs.
  
  Our therapy programs allow individuals to get the support they need without their families having to coordinate appointments all over town.
  
  We are unique in that our therapy department is the only one in the area that offers all 3 disciplines in one setting. We also offer this program on an outpatient basis to people without disabilities who do not attend our programs.

What’s the best way our community can help?

Donations to help cover the cost of community trips and activities, increase our ability to support those who do not receive state funding, and cover additional costs not covered by other funding sources. Explore our individual donation opportunities.
