The 16th Annual Paws in Motion Walk-a-Thon Returns March 19th!

The Humane Society of Manatee is hosting their largest fundraiser, the Paws in Motion Walk-a-Thon, on March 19th. Here's how you can help.

The Humane Society of Manatee County needs your help! Their 16th annual Paws in Motion Walk-a-Thon is coming up, and your participation can help them save lives – four paws at a time.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th – but you can register for the walk or create your team right now. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to spread the word and start gathering donations. Here’s what you need to know.

What to Expect

This event is the Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds benefit the animals in their Second Chance Adoption Shelter, located at 2515 14th Street W.

Walkers will begin at Caddy’s Bradenton, enjoy a leisurely one-mile stroll down the Bradenton Riverwalk, and end up back at Caddy’s. It’s open to participants of all ages as well as your furry friends.

Registration and check-in begins at 8 am and the walk starts at approximately 9 am. After the walk is done, plan to spend some time exploring the Vendor Village. It will feature over 40 vendors, food, music, and raffle baskets filled with exciting goodies.

Registration & Fundraising

Advanced registration is $20 for adults (16 and over), $10 for children 5 to 15 years old, and free for children 4 and under. If you wait until the day of the event, the cost increases to $30 for adults and $15 for children, so don’t delay. If you’re not a fan of crowds, don’t worry! You can also sign up for a virtual walk so you can support the Humane Society from anywhere you feel comfortable.

Sign up on their registration page, then click the “donate” button to start your fundraiser. You can also create a team and fundraise together. The individual who collects the most donations will have the opportunity for their pet to become next year’s spokespet! Spokespet will receive a photo shoot with Dog Street Photography, placement on next year’s flyers, and will lead the walk for 2023!

If you plan to attend the event, you can stop by The Humane Society’s Second Chance Adoption Center (2515 14th St W, Bradenton) on March 17th between 9 am and 6 pm to pick up your “wag bag” and t-shirt and drop off any money you’ve collected. When you arrive at Caddy’s on the 19th, you’ll be able to enjoy free parking in their lot. There will also be overflow parking on the streets nearby.

Other Ways You Can Help

All donations large and small will help!

  • $35 pays for a medical exam and medical testing
  • $50 provides food for five dogs or cats for one week
  • $100 pays for spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations for shelter animals

If you can’t participate but you want to help, you can contribute funds on the event’s Donation Page.

You can also apply to become a vendor or sponsor the event.
