The world’s greatest magician, Harry Houdini, was well known for his sensational escapes. Before his death, he told his beloved wife, Bess, that he had hidden a journal containing all of his magic secrets somewhere in his study. Although many would try, only the next great magician would be able to discover it.
Since then, countless would-be magicians have entered the study in search of the book, only to disappear — never to be seen or heard from again. Now it was time for the Discover Bradenton crew to give it a shot. Would we be able to find the book of secrets and escape the study before our time ran out?
Houdini’s Book of Secrets is one of the two current games at the newest and largest escape room in Bradenton: Premier Escape Adventures. A cross between a scavenger hunt and a series of puzzles, both games challenge participants to work together to solve riddles, find clues, and use creativity, logic, and instinct to unravel the mysteries of the rooms while racing to beat the clock.
If you haven’t tried an escape room yet, you’re missing out! This fully-immersive, live-action adventure is both fun and family-friendly. It’s ideal for date night, birthday parties, and company team-building activities.
A Family-Owned Bradenton Business
Premier Escape Adventures, which opened on May 24th of this year, is owned by Bradenton locals Kristine and Scott Vaillancourt, along with their two children. Their Boston Terrier, Nya, sometimes visits the escape room and is always happy to greet guests with some kisses.
Kristine and Scott decided to open their own escape room after realizing that every time they went on vacation, they ended up booking an escape adventure. To date, they’ve visited over 100 different escape rooms across the country and in Canada, giving them plenty of innovative ideas to incorporate into their own room design.
They found that the East Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch area didn’t have a lot of things for families to do together, so they were thrilled when they found the current location on SR 70 just west of I75.
Premier Escape Adventures Offers Something for Everyone
In addition to the two escape rooms that are currently open — Houdini’s Book of Secrets and Date Night Disaster — Kristine and Scott are in the process of building two more game rooms that will open later this year. But that’s not all! They also have four virtual reality stations with arcade-style games and virtual reality escape rooms. At Premier Escape, there’s truly something for everyone!

So… How Did We Do?
First of all, every one of us had a BLAST! The escape room was both fun and challenging. Two of us had played an escape room before, while the other three were first-timers. Each of us was able to contribute our own set of skills, and … although we did need some clues along the way, we found the book of secrets!!
What was written in it? We’ll never tell! You’ll have to try your luck and see if you can find out for yourself. When you do, be sure to tell them you heard about it on Discover Bradenton!
