The Linger Lodge: Bringing a Taste of Old Florida to Bradenton Since 1945

Do you ever wish you could escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and go back to a simpler time? Visiting the Linger Lodge will make you feel like you’ve done just that.

A staple in Bradenton since 1945, this rustic restaurant and RV campground is situated along the beautiful Braden River. It’s extremely popular among visitors of all ages, thanks to the eclectic menu and an atmosphere unlike any place you’ve ever been before.

Getting here is part of the fun! Bike, ride, or paddle over to the lodge for lunch or dinner and enjoy menu specialties like Sea Scallops, Florida Grouper, Alligator, Frog Legs, Smoked Meats & Seafood, Catfish, Burgers, Ruebens, Gumbo, Alligator Chowder, and more. Got little ones? They’re sure to love choosing their meals from the playful “Roadkill Menu.”

One of the most unique and exciting things about the Linger Lodge, however, is the extensive taxidermy collection that adorns nearly every inch of the inside walls. This tradition began after previous owners Frank and Elaine Gamsky purchased the grounds in 1968.

Mr. Gamsky, a veterinarian by trade, began to explore his interest in taxidermy using roadkill and wild game found in and around the campgrounds. He shared his unusual creations with his guests by incorporating them into the lodge’s interior decor. Some of the most unusual include: the Jackalope, the Walking Catfish, and the Alaskan Fur Fish. These specimens still remain in the lodge today and are one of the restaurant’s most popular attractions.

In 2017, the Linger Lodge was purchased by Frank Hartl, originally from Austria, who fell in love with this unique and beautiful property. He’s investing in updating the space while staying mindful of preserving the Old Florida Charm.

The Linger Lodge continues to be a popular place to enjoy delicious food, live music, and unforgettable views. Seating options include indoor air-conditioned dining, two outside covered and screened decks overlooking the water, and outdoor seating that can accommodate up to 100 guests. Guests also love the newly renovated bar with high top tables and bar stools and three wide screen TVs.

The RV resort is currently closed while it’s undergoing major renovations. When it returns, it will have new utilities, roads, and site pads, laundry and bathhouse facilities, and a new club house with a pool. The restaurant will remain open throughout the construction period.

There’s never a shortage of ways to enjoy your time at the Linger Lodge. Are you a Karaoke fan? Head over on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8 pm and Fridays from 6 to 9 pm.

If live music is more your style, you’ll want to come by on Saturday nights between 7 and 10 pm and Sunday afternoons between 4 and 7 pm. This Saturday, the 25th, you can enjoy tunes by bluegrass band HWY 41 South, and on Sunday (26th) relax to the soothing sounds of Latitude Duo.

Sundays are arguably the best day of the week, thanks to the Linger Lodge’s AMAZING Bloody Mary specials! Enjoy a $5 house Bloody Mary, or splurge for their deluxe version — literally a meal in a glass.

The Deluxe Bloody Mary changes weekly, and never disappoints! Pictured to the left is the “BarBeQuben Mary.” This masterpiece is made with a full “Quben” sandwich and Fried Pickle Chips in a Baked Potato Boat all gathered in a Bloody Mary with all the fixin’s and a Double Shot of Absolut!

The Linger Lodge also hosts many special events throughout the year, like Bluegrass Festivals, Motorcycle Festivals, and an Oktoberfest celebration. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay on top of the latest news and events!

The Linger Lodge is located at 7205 85th St. Ct. E. Bradenton FL 34202. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 9 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm. They’re closed on Mondays between May and October.
