It’s hard to believe May is already here! While the temperatures are starting to rise, there are still a ton of fun things to do this month. From Manatee’s 1st Ever Taco Fest to live music, fishing tournaments, poker runs, and more – there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.
1. Maker Space Open House – Downtown Bradenton Library

Maker Space lets families of all ages experience hands-on learning including 3D printing, button making, and 3D pen activities. There’s also going to be a fun Rainbow Windsock craft and informational demonstrations featuring Robots that move due to color programming.

2. Beach Market at Coquina Beach

Enjoy an afternoon of visiting the beautiful Beach Market at Coquina Beach Park. Relax and stroll around the stunning white sand, overlooking the view of the Gulf, where you can purchase some great food, visit unique vendors, and more!
The Market features everything from fresh produce, jewelry, and arts and crafts, to pottery, beauty items, and much more. If you haven’t visited the Market recently, you truly are missing out!
3. Lilly Pulitzer Luncheon & Fashion Show

Show your support for Foundation for Dreams and Dream Oaks Camp by attending their upcoming Lilly Pulitzer Luncheon & Fashion show! Come and mingle while browsing through pop-up shops from local boutiques and businesses.

4. May Artwalk #SeenInTheVota

Start the month off by taking a stroll through the May Artwalk at Bradenton’s Village of the Arts.
This month’s theme is #SeenInTheVota and will offer exciting opportunities to explore the local galleries and shops, enjoy delicious food, live music, and everything VOTA has to offer. 5. Music in the Park

Due to one event being rained out last month, we’ll have the chance to enjoy one last Music in the Park this season! Catch James Tyrone Band/Soul on May 6 at the Pavilion at Rossi Park on the Bradenton Riverwalk.
Everyone is invited to come to this free event. Bring your own blanket and chairs. Furry companions on leashes are also welcome!
6. Kentucky Derby Party at Mattison’s

7. Free Comic Book Day

8. Manatee’s 1st Ever Taco Fest

If you love tacos (who doesn’t?!) then Manatee’s 1st Annual Taco Fest is definitely the event for you! This event will showcase over 150 of Tri-State Area’s Best Taco Producers together with a variety of Specialty Cocktails and entertainment.
This is a family-friendly event with inflatables, face painting, and more for everyone to enjoy. General admission is $10 and kids under 10 years old go in for free.
9. 35th Annual Jerry Hill Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament

Bring your kids out to the 35th Annual Jerry Hill Memorial Fishing Kids Fishing Tournament! This catch-and-release tournament is FREE for everyone to join.
There will be free shirts for all registered participants and prizes given to winners of every age group based on the longest fish caught and released. This is always a popular event, with close to 200 participants each year. Registration is required – you can sign up here.
10. Florida Highwaymen Artist Show and Sale

The original Florida Highwaymen Artists Art Show and Sale is back at Palmetto Historical Park! It will feature incredible artists including Curtis Arnett, Al Black, Kandie Ingram (showing the work of her mother), Mary Ann Carroll, R.L. Lewis, Doretha Hair Truesdell, Roderick Hair – and more!
Vintage works by Alfred Hair, the Newton Brothers, Livingston Roberts, John Maynor, Robert Butler, and more will be available for viewing and purchase. In addition, the Palmetto Historical Park and Manatee County Agricultural Museum will be open for visitors.
11. Starry Night Astronomy

12. “FROM Bits & Pieces” Workshop

15. AMI Pivateers Shiprek Poker Run

17. 6th Annual Adopt-A-Palooza and Pet Expo

The annual Adopt-A-Palooza & Pet Expo is back! The Friends of Manatee County Animal Services (FOMCAS) will be hosting the largest one-day adoption and expo-style event in Manatee County. There will be over 100 adoptable puppies, dogs, cats, and kittens from Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS), local shelters, and animal rescues – all under one roof.
The family-friendly event will include over 25 retail vendors selling a variety of pet products. There will also be a free pet vaccine and microchip clinic from 11 am to 2 pm (first come, first served).
18. Big Brothers and Big Sisters Movie Knight at Knight’s Towing
