Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Every year, more than 250,000 women in the U.S. receive a breast cancer diagnosis.
The most effective way to reduce the health impacts of breast cancer is through early detection aided by mammograms. Regular mammogram screening for women over the age of 40 is highly recommended to discover any early signs of breast cancer and help lessen breast cancer mortality.
In Manatee County, many women will forgo this critical annual screening due to a lack of health insurance. To raise awareness of the importance of early detection, We Care Manatee is partnering with the Manatee Diagnostic Center (Riverside Drive East location) to provide free mammograms to uninsured women in Manatee County.
Free mammogram screenings are available to all uninsured women between the ages of 40 to 64 who live in Manatee County. All participants must have an order from a physician. The eligibility of the participants will be determined by We Care Manatee. To schedule an appointment, get more information, or for assistance with obtaining a physician’s order give them a call at 941-755-3952.
