Wednesday, July 22nd is National Hot Dog Day!

Sure, you could fire up the grill and cook a few at home, but we have a much better idea. Instead, why not head over to Willy-Yums (pronounced Williams) for some of the best hot dogs in Bradenton (and beyond!).

Not only will you enjoy a delicious meal, but you’ll also be supporting a local, family-owned and operated business that puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting our community!

This hot dog stand, located on 14th St. West, is run by owners Rob and Kim Williams and their sons, Connar and Zacary Williams. It was established in 2017, funded in part by a GoFundMe that allowed family and friends to help support Rob’s lifelong dream. It’s these same friends and family members, says Rob, who continue to share their social media posts and support their business today.

This humble family is doing an incredible job of giving back. From offering 50% off to all military members on Memorial Day to serving free meals to local hospital staff at the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak and working with organizations like The Bower Foundation to donate meals to the homeless, it seems that they’re always looking for ways to do their part. Rob summed it up best when he said:

We love our community and they have supported us. Our goal as a business is to lead by example, to build a community of family and friends, and to have a unique atmosphere that’s fun and inviting.”

They’ve kept the menu fairly simple, but if you’re looking for the best hot dogs in Bradenton, this is it! They have gourmet hot dogs from around the country including Chicago Style Dogs, New York Style Dogs, Detroit Style Coneys, Bacon Mac & Cheese Dogs, Pizza Dogs, Nacho Dogs, Frito Pie Dogs, and many more!

They also serve 1/4 pound burgers, pressed Cuban sandwiches, tacos, personal pizzas, nachos, loaded tater tots, and more.

In addition to the brick-and-mortar store, Willy-Yums also has a food trailer (“Lil’ Willy”) that they bring to special events like the recent Village of the Arts Art Walk and locations like the Naughty Monk Brewery. Lately, they’ve also been bringing the trailer out to apartment complexes, condos, and HOAs. The trailer serves fried hot dogs, wings, burgers, fries, and more! (Want them at your next event or location? Call 941-243-6906 to make arrangements).

Willy-Yums is located at 2003 14th St. W. in Bradenton. They’re open from 11 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday, 11 am to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 pm on Sunday.

They offer walk-up service, curbside pickup, and delivery. Check out their website for more information and make sure to follow them on Facebook so you don’t miss out on any of their cool updates and events!

Join Willy-Yums in Helping Those in Need!

Rob and Kim often talk with men and women who are struggling, homeless, or just can’t afford a simple meal. They listen to their stories, and while they never give cash to these individuals, they refuse to let them go hungry or thirsty. Every day, they donate about 10-12 meals to those in need.

However, recently, the number of requests has significantly increased. Since the changes in the economy have impacted them as well, they’re not always able to keep up with the demand. In response, they’ve started a campaign that allows our local community members to make $3 donations, which covers the cost of a hot dog, chips, and a drink.

Last week, they received enough donations to give away 162 free meals and didn’t have to turn anyone away! Giving just a little can help to feed many! If you’re interested in contributing, you can do so by following THIS LINK.
