The Bradenton Kiwanis Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Manatee County are launching a new program, which was designed by a team from Kiwanis International, will focus on providing recognition to elementary school students who raise their grades to acceptable levels. The students are also encouraged to maintain their new grade level or continue raising them from one period to the next.
To start with, the clubs are adopting classrooms at Manatee Elementary School and Palmetto Elementary during the fourth quarter. Volunteers are currently needed for both schools!
The Palmetto Elementary program will be virtual, while Manatee volunteers will visit the students in person. It will require a total time investment of three to four hours and promises to be an incredibly rewarding experience.
Here’s what you can expect:
March 22nd
You’ll visit your assigned classroom where you’ll share a video and distribute the B.U.G. packets to the students. During this meeting, teachers will also receive a program guide. Each participating student will set personal goals and get paired with a buddy.
Mid-April
You’ll schedule a date to reconnect with your assigned student so you can check on their progress and give them some encouragement.
Mid-May
Visit your students one more time to distribute goodies and celebrate their achievements!
That’s it! Making this small commitment can make a major difference in a child’s life.
