Community, Creativity, and Small Businesses
According to the creators of the event, The Friendly City Flea seeks to “bring together Bradenton’s creative community, jumpstart our city’s indie lifestyle, and support the small businesses that make up our city.” They proudly showcase collections and businesses from Bradenton, Sarasota, St. Pete, and Tampa.
When seeking vendors to exhibit, Friendly City Flea looks for originality, warmth, and inventiveness. Some previous vendors include pottery from Ctrl+Alt+Create, handcrafted florals from Kinspoke, and artisan woodcrafts from Asteria Sol Creations.
The FCF is also all about community. The event’s founder says: “Our community is filled with talented makers, musicians, and creatives. The Friendly City Flea is designed to provide a place for them to grow while sharing their talents with those around them. This is our city, and this can be a space where we can all be a part of it.”
They now hold their twice-monthly events inside Oscura, an eccentric coffee house and live event venue, which is located at 816 Manatee Ave East. It’s the perfect spot to pick up a coffee or a latte to sip while perusing the flea market. This recently opened business has been the proud host of the Friendly City Flea all summer. You’ve got to love when local businesses support each other!
When the weather cools down in the fall, they’ll also be expanding outdoors so they can accommodate even more incredible vendors.
