A NEW SUMMER SUNSET MENU marks the beginning of the season at Mean Deans Local Kitchen.

Right now is the perfect time to visit for the first time or get reacquainted with this chef-owned and run restaurant in West Bradenton. The seasonal menu is now available until July 21st between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Included in the menu are several meat, seafood, and vegan selections all for $15.90 each. The selections include:

• Tropical Chicken– blackened chicken breast topped with pineapple mango chutney and served with fresh vegetables
• Mahi & Chips– fried gulf mahi fried served with fries and homemade slaw
• Mussels Amore– coastal PEI mussels in a tomato,  and romano cheese sauce served with linguini
• Tofu Coconut Curry– tofu with curry, coconut milk, peanut, red onions and peppers with rice (this can be ordered as a vegan or vegetarian dish)
• New Orleans Bowl– cheddar grits topped with andouille sausage, blackened chicken, candied bacon, and caramelized onions.

I ordered the New Orleans Bowl during my last visit and have to tell you that it was an excellent choice. 

I also have to mention that Mean Deans now has a full liquor license and has developed a craft cocktail menu with some exciting signature spirits. I’ve had the chance to try the Key Lime and Toasted Coconut Martini and the Candied Bacon Old Fashioned and you know that everything’s better with bacon.

Other original cocktails include the Wildflower Spritz, which is the perfect summer refresher and consists of Hendricks flora gin, aperol, and ginger infused syrup – plus the Tahitian Mai Tai, a real throwback to the 1960’s era with Appleton and pineapple rums, orange curacao, amaretto, and the customary cherry.

They have a great Happy Hour every day between 3:00 and 6:00 pm and all day on Thursdays. MD’s Happy Hour offers $5 Well Drinks, Draft Beers and House Wines, and $2 Off Signature Cocktails. 

Another great offering at MD’s is their Daily Specials.

Every Monday they offer the Marsala Meatloaf for $14.90. On Tuesdays the Fresh Cedar Plank Salmon is $16.90 and Wednesday offers you $15 Bottles of House Wine.

Thursday is Happy Hour All Day!; Friday offers the Blackened Redfish for $18.90, Saturdays you can score a full rack of Baby Back Ribs for $19.90;, and on Sundays after 4:00 pm they have Prime Rib Dinner for $18.90.

Don’t forget to check out their house-made desserts – the Crunchy Peanut Butter Pie is my favorite and simply the best peanut butter pie around. 

Mean Deans now also offers a private Banquet Room to celebrate your own party, private events, or business meetings. The newly added room has capacity for 70 people and provides you the choice of their regular menu or the opportunity to create a special menu with Chef Dean.

This space is adjacent to the dining room and bar and can be reserved by calling the restaurant. If you don’t have any other plans for a Tuesday evening, come and take part in Trivia Night every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 pm starting July 16th. You can also enjoy local music artists on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month starting July 25th.
