Nonprofit Spotlight: St Joseph Food Pantry

There are many nonprofit organizations in Bradenton and the surrounding area. Each one is doing incredible work to support our community by helping those less fortunate, promoting the arts, providing education, and more.

During our nonprofit spotlight series, we’ll highlight a different local nonprofit each week. This week, we were thrilled to chat with St Joseph Food Pantry to learn more about their mission and how we can help. Here’s what they had to say.

Tell us a little bit about your mission and how you help to support our community…

We are a community of 100+ volunteers who help to distribute food to those households in need in Manatee County. We are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to Noon.

In 2023, we provided food to 18,700 Households – 66,200 individuals, including 22,00 children and 2,500 seniors. We would love to have you join our volunteers!

Can you describe a few of your key programs?

The St. Joseph Food Pantry is still the largest Food Pantry in Manatee County. Any eligible Manatee County resident is welcome to sign up and receive food once a month.

We generally are able to give clients meat and/or seafood, pasta, tomato sauce, canned veggies, peanut butter, cereal, and a variety of USDA commodities. Clients can also pick through a large assortment of bread and other donated foods.

The Food Pantry is located at 2704 33rd Ave. W. Bradenton, FL 34205. New clients need to register on their first visit. All we need is your name, address, and your signature confirming you qualify for food in Manatee County. We will then give you a card you can use for future visits.

What’s the best way our community can help?

We are in need of translators, daily coordinators, muscle to move the food we receive, and people to pick up bread donations from various retailers on the weekend.

To continue operating, the Food Pantry relies on a totally volunteer staff and the generosity of our donors. We are deeply grateful to the faithful at St. Joseph Church and in Manatee County and around the United States for your continued support, encouragement, and prayers.
