As the 13th Street area of downtown Bradenton continues its revitalization, the newest addition brings residents and visitors even more outstanding dining options. Sugar Cubed, Happy Soul Delights, and Sugar Cubed After Dark! are making their mark on the downtown scene in a big way. These innovative entrepreneurs are combining three great concepts into one single space, and the results are simply amazing.Â
Sugar Cubed has been located at 531 13th St. W. for almost two years. The bakery’s daytime operations are run by talented and experienced baker Valencia Mitchell. She’s known for her sweet treats including pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts, which are both breathtakingly beautiful and delicious. Sugar Cubed also offers catering platters and custom cakes that make any occasion one to remember. Â
Seeing the opportunity to create something bigger, Mitchell turned the space in to a “pastry lab,” opening it up to a multitude of other talented bakers and chefs. Any time you stop by Sugar Cubed, you’re likely to find up to eight different culinary creators cohesively operating out of the open commercial kitchen.Â
Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m., Sugar Cubed serves breakfast and lunch pastries and treats, lunch flatbreads, and vegan items from one of their pastry lab partners, Paula Tromp, owner of Happy Soul Delights.
Paula serves up vegan comfort food that aims to please even the staunchest of carnivores. Her ultimate goal is to help the community eat better while also showing that vegan food can taste great! You can regularly find specials like cheeseburgers topped with onion rings, truffle fries, pulled pork sandwiches, chili, and even nachos — and, yes, they’re all vegan (although you would never know it)!
The newest addition to the Sugar Cubed family is Sugar Cubed After Dark!, which celebrated its grand opening just last week. This late-night concept is the perfect place for the night owls of Bradenton to satisfy their cravings. On Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. until midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. they serve up a fun twist on their already exciting menu.
Patrons are guaranteed to be “wowed” by items like the “Sugar Cubed Cake Shake” made from birthday cake ice cream and topped with house-made whipped cream, Fruity Pebbles, and DOUBLE STACKED birthday cake cupcakes (pictured below). The menu also features an array of other scrumptious gourmet desserts, custom ice cream sandwiches, and delicious flatbreads. Best of all, Sugar Cubed’s menu items feature top-notch ingredients, locally sourced ice cream, and house-made toppings.Â
