It's hard to believe it's August already! We may still be in the middle of summertime, but Bradenton still has a ton of events for you to explore.

Live Music, Comedy, Pony Rides and more – there is something here for everyone to enjoy! Check out our round-up of 25 Cool Things to Do this August.

1. Succulent and Carport Sale

Friday, August 5th, and Saturday, August 6th from 8 am to 3 pm

2. Bishop Animal Center Grand Opening & Open House

Friday, August 5th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am

The public is invited to come out and visit the new Bishop Animal Shelter. On Friday, there will be a gathering to celebrate and commemorate the donation of the facility. You’ll also have a chance to tour the beautiful 25,000-square-foot state-of-the-art medical intake building. Be sure to use the 21st Street entrance.


3. Plant Shed Summer Sale

Saturday, August 6th from 8 am to 11 am DATE CHANGE – Saturday, August 13th from 8 am to 11 am

If you’re into collecting plants, you don’t want to miss the Plant Shed Summer Sale at Palma Sola Botanical Park. Here you’ll find a huge selection of plants for sale.

Admission is free, so everyone can go in and have fun. Take note: this event takes place in the park’s nursery and will not have local vendors from their Spring and Fall events, but there will still be a lot of great botanicals for you to explore.

4. Grand Opening Five-O Donut Co.

Head out to the NEW Five-O Donut Co. in Bradenton for a sneak peek of their dream donut production kitchen. They also offer vegan donuts produced on dedicated equipment.

5. Coquina Beach Cleanup

Coquina Beach is one of Bradenton’s best-loved spots to stroll around while relaxing and enjoying the stunning white sand overlooking the view of the Gulf.

Join Keep Manatee Beautiful for their 1st Saturday cleanup at Coquina Beach. The group will meet up at the main entrance by the bus circle.


6. Stepping Into Meditation

Are you curious about trying meditation, or looking to deepen your practice? Each Sunday starting in August 7th, you’re invited to join Derrick at Thrive Yoga & Fitness as he guides you through various meditation tools and techniques.

Attending the Restorative Yin class prior to the Sunday Meditation is encouraged, but certainly not required.  This is a donation-based, weekly event, and all are welcome.


7. Live Music at The Freckled Fin

If you’re a fan of live music, you’ll definitely want to head out to The Freckled Fin on Holmes Beach. From Irish singer/songwriters to Karaoke nights, Reggae, cover bands, and more, it’s always a good time!

8. Science Sprouts

Every Saturday from 10 am to 11 am
Bishop Museum of Science and Nature: 201 10th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205

If you’ve got little ones, you won’t want to miss out on Science Sprouts at The Bishop. The program is for budding scientists ages 2 to 5 and is designed to spark kids’ natural curiosity using imaginative play, crafts, stories, songs, and more!

9. $5 Friday Flow

Every Friday from 12 to 12:45 pm

Interested in yoga but not ready to make a big financial commitment? Check out this fun $5 Yoga Flow Class every Friday at Every Body Yoga Studio! You can pre-register online or bring exact change when you come to class. Everyone is welcome!


10. Mimosa Saturdays at Cork’s Cigar Bar

11. Weekly Events at Kava Social Club

On Monday nights you can enjoy a Reflexology Foot Massage while sipping on your favorite beverage. There’s Drag Bingo on the first Tuesday of each month. On Wednesdays, Sing for Your Shell during Karaoke Night, show off your smarts during Thursday’s Trivia Night, and on Fridays, enjoy Open Mic Night from 9 pm to 12 am.

There’s also a Night Market on the second Saturday of each month from 7 pm to 11 pm.


12. Trivia Night at Wilder’s Pizza

14. I Dream of Manatee

Join Compass Rose History Experiences on a walking tour of the up-and-coming East Manatee neighborhood. During the event, you’ll have the chance to meet today’s visionaries and hear stories of visionaries from the past.

The experience begins at Every Body Yoga and will conclude at Central Cafe. The event is just $20. Get your tickets here!


15. Blood Drive with Grandma Wan’s Thai Food Truck

Len’s Roofing is hosting a Blood Drive and everyone is welcome to attend. This is a great chance to meet their staff and enjoy delicious food from Grandma Wans Thai Food Truck while donating to the Suncoast Blood Centers.

16. Escape the Nest

Challenge yourself in the newest Escape Room Experience at Robinson Preserve! Trapped inside a bird research facility with a hurricane on the way, participants must solve interactive puzzles and collect clues to escape the NEST.

17. Clothing Swap

Keep those gently used clothes out of the landfill and re-stock your closet with some new treasures! Head over to Segunda Vida for their first clothing swap.

Bring up to 6 gently used items of women’s clothing. Bring a friend, and have them bring their own clothing to swap as well. Any un-swapped items will be donated (if you want). RSVP on their Facebook Event so they can make sure they have enough space.


18. Friendly City Flea

We’re so excited for the return of the Friendly City Flea! This indoor market is now held inside Oscura Cafe & Bar. Come by and explore goods from local makers + musicians + creatives.

There will be live music, food and drinks, and more!  Grab your friends and come out to support small businesses, artists, and the community.


19. Horseback Riding Exhibitions, Pony Rides and More

Sunday, August 14th from 9 am to 12 pm

During this fun open house, there will be free pony rides, horse arts & crafts, horseback riding exhibitions, vendors, music, food trucks, and fun & games for the whole family to enjoy.

20. Comedy at Oscura

Oscura Cafe & Bar, a beloved new Bradenton venue known for hosting live music, will be having its inaugural comedy show this month, with some of the best up-and-coming comedians in Florida. This event might sell out, so get your tickets now!


21. Bradentucky Bombers Recruitment Event

Bradentucky Bombers Roller Derby is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting their next in-person recruit at Ellenton Sports & Ice Complex.

They are looking for committed skaters, referees, and volunteers. All genders and abilities are welcome to join. The only requirement is that you have to be 18 years or older.

22. Wine Dinner: “Tour de France!”

24. Laughter in LWR
