From the moment we set foot in the Breezy Bakery, we were overwhelmed by the incredible smells and the welcoming atmosphere. This fun, woman-owned and family-run shop offers a truly decadent culinary experience.
Bri Suzano and her partner, Travis Roy both bring years of experience to the table, having worked for over 15 years as pastry chefs in high-end hotels across the country including the Ritz Carlton and the Hyatt Regency. Whether you prefer red velvet cake, coconut macaroons, made-from-scratch cinnamon buns, or other types of handmade confections, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for here!
While Bri and Travis spend most of their time baking, Bri’s sister Dani is the friendly face you’ll see behind the counter. Their parents, cousins, and other family members have also come together to help support their new endeavor.
The shop has only been open a few weeks, yet Bri says the support from the local community has been incredible. Travis noted that they have both really enjoyed getting to know the locals and having the opportunity to learn more about their preferences.
The bakery is closed on Mondays, so every Sunday they clear out the display cases, then arrive at 4 am on Tuesday to bake up a fresh round of tasty treats so they’re ready for their early-morning customers. Each day they’re open, Bri and Travis are there before sunrise, working their magic.
Everything they make is from scratch using old-fashioned techniques. You can watch them work throughout the day, thanks to the bakery’s open-kitchen layout. They also work with local suppliers to ensure they’re using the freshest and most authentic ingredients.
They also always have some vegan and gluten-free items on hand and are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests!
While they’ve been pretty busy running the shop, Bri and Travis also plan to expand their catering options soon. They’ll provide pastries, desserts, and custom cakes for corporate events, family gatherings, weddings, and more throughout Bradenton, Sarasota, Anna Maria Island, and Longboat Key. They also offer custom cakes for weddings and other special occasions.
Breezy Bakery is located at 11904 Cortez Road W. in Cortez, near Tyler’s Ice Cream and The Beach Shop. If you’re heading out to Anna Maria Island, you’ll see it on the south side of Cortez Road West, just before you get to the bridge.
They’re open Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 am to 4 pm, Thursday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm, and Sundays from 8 am to noon.
