There are some places where the personality of the owners is built into every square inch of the business. Willy-Yums is absolutely one of those places. I mean, you can’t really miss the bright-green hot dog stand on 14th Street West, the place is literally covered all things hot dog. From signs to statues, the theme is ever-present.

The walk-up window feels like something from another era, and the menu includes just about every interpretation of a hot dog imaginable.
I am talking Chicago style, New York, Detroit Coney, Carolina slaw, bacon mac and cheese, and plenty more. However, the best part of my visit was meeting Kim, who owns Willy-Yums alongside her husband, Rob!
Kim was genuinely one of the nicest people I have met throughout this entire small-business journey. Not “customer-service nice.”, or “I own a business and should probably be friendly” nice.
Just sincerely, naturally, overwhelmingly kind. Want a little back story to go with the all kindness? You got it, let’s dive in.
Willy-Yums opened after Rob finally pursued a dream he had carried since he was 17 years old, and today, Rob and Kim run it with their sons, Connar and Zacary. In other words, it truly is a family business!
What impressed me even more is how deliberately they try to keep Willy-Yums affordable and give something back to the community supporting them. Every Tuesday is $2 Tuesday: any hot dog, any toppings, just two bucks. In 2026? Get outta here!

This year, on the Saturday before school started up, Willy-Yums gave every school-age child who came by one completely free hot dog with any toppings they wanted! WHAT?!
This is the type of stuff that gets me emotional, I’ll be honest. A family-owned business finding a simple, generous way to celebrate local kids and thank Bradenton for supporting them over the years. That truly tells you quite a bit about the people behind the counter. Small businesses like Willy-Yums take a longtime dream, a tiny walk-up window, and a whole lot of hard work and turn them into something the community can call its own.
Go meet Kim. Grab a hot dog and, for the sake of being a kid again, try something ridiculous on it. Go out and support a genuinely wonderful Bradenton family doing everything it can to keep good food affordable and share a little kindness along the way.
Willy-Yums is located at 2003 14th Street West. You can follow them on Facebook, or learn more at Willy-Yums.net
And to Kim, thank you for being so unbelievably kind. 💕
