Big Astronomy: People, Places, Discoveries is a story of the people and places who make big astronomy and big science happen. This 30-minute award-winning planetarium show highlights the diverse people who enable discoveries at world-class observatories in Chile.
Following the film, Derek will host a Q&A and share his experience visiting the observatories featured in the show.
With two decades in Astronomy and planetariums, Derek Demeter has had the opportunity to participate in the Astronomy in Chile Educators Ambassadors Program (ACEAP) in 2017 and spent a week visiting the various observatories around Chile. Derek also enjoys promoting science beyond the Planetarium with his work as an astrophotographer. His work has been featured in NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day, Astronomy Magazine, and other publications as well as art galleries.

The evening begins at 6:30pm with beverages and conversation; presentation begins at 7pm inside The Planetarium.
