Modern Chop: An Incredible Steakhouse Experience in West Bradenton

You don't have to go out of town for an amazing steakhouse experience anymore! Learn more about Modern Chop, an incredible new restaurant in West Bradenton.

From its trendy vibe to the impeccable service and unique and innovative menu options, Modern Chop Steakhouse has everything you would expect from an upscale, big-city steakhouse – but it’s located right in your backyard!

This locally-owned independent steakhouse offers a chef-driven menu that is prepared by classically trained chefs using innovative techniques. It features locally sourced and organic ingredients and made-from-scratch items. This includes chef-butchered cuts of Prime and Wagyu beef as well as house-made fresh pasta, seafood dishes, and creative vegetarian and vegan options.

Modern Chop is a new venture from some well-known local restauranteurs. Owners Joseph Moreta, his father Jose Moreta, and fiancée Nicole Praessel also own the extremely popular Sage Biscuit Cafe, with locations on Cortez Road West in Bradenton and downtown Bradenton.

When asked what sparked the leap from a breakfast/lunch establishment to a steakhouse, Joseph said:

I’ve always wanted to do this. Every year I go to a steakhouse for my birthday and most of the time we end up going to Tampa or Sarasota. You shouldn’t have to leave Bradenton to get a great steak, and now you don’t have to.”

A Truly Local Dining Experience

Modern Chop uses locally sourced, organic ingredients whenever possible and all of their sauces, dressings, and desserts are made from scratch. Their Meyers Angus, Prime, and Wagyu beef comes from Master Purveyors in Tampa and their fresh fruits and vegetables come from local produce company Chefs Choice.

The seafood is purchased three times a week from A.P. Bell Fish Company in Cortez. Joseph, who is also an avid fisherman, enjoys visiting them to personally choose the fish that has just come off the boat. All of the bread served at Modern Chop is also baked at Cremesh Bakery, which is located next door.

The menu changes three times a year, continually offering a fresh new twist on seasonal favorites. When Modern Chop first opened in November of 2021, the menu featured many heavier dishes such as duck and lamb. Now, on the summertime menu, you’ll find lighter items like fresh salads and plenty of seafood dishes.

Exciting Weekly Specials

In addition to offering an incredible dinner menu, Modern Chop is also the perfect place to enjoy some lite bites or relax with a drink after work. On Mondays, you can enjoy any of their signature martinis – like the Chocolate Raspberry Truffletini, Hazelnut Espresso, or Raspberry Lemon Drop – for just $7 each.

Wine lovers won’t want to miss “Wine Down Wednesdays,” when all wines by the glass are 50% off. They have over 35 different wines by the glass on the menu, so you could visit every week and never have the same glass twice.

In the bar and lounge area, you can also enjoy their “Bar Bites” menu during happy hour every day between 4 pm and 6 pm and all night on Thursdays. Currently, this menu features options like Crispy Duck Eggrolls, Truffle Bacon Mac and Cheese, Black and Blue Tacos, Beef Carpaccio, and more.
