Resistance: They Fought Back
When: January 7, 2024, 4:30pm
Where: Temple Sinai, 4631 S. Lockwood Ridge Rd., Sarasota*Light hors d’oeuvres and wine reception. Q and A with Producer and Sarasota resident, Paula Apsell following the film.*
Paula Apsell, producer created a documentary focused on the resistance of Jews to the Nazi regime and its plan to exterminate European Jewry. This film is designed to illuminate an all-too-unknown aspect of the conventional Holocaust story. Our goal is to correct the dominant narrative of the Holocaust, in which Jewish victims went quietly to their fate “like sheep to the slaughter.” To the contrary, there were more than ninety armed rebellions in ghettos and concentration camps, thousands of Jewish partisans fighting in the forests, as well as countless examples of non-violent resistance against the Nazis.
