Event Details
Come and view the Palmetto Art Center’s significant collection of nostalgic Florida Highwaymen Landscape and create one of your own! Select from a menu of Florida nature motifs and interpret the Highwaymen style your way. Wendy Marble will guide us on our painting journey, teaching us techniques she learned by observing Florida Highwayman Al Black.
We will have many landscapes on hand to view for inspiration. For example, the Royal Poinciana often painted by Robert Lewis, the backwaters of Florida by Sam Newton, or you may want to be original and paint our very own Green Bridge over the Manatee River.
We will be using acrylic paint with pastel chalk details as our mediums. It’s easy to do and so RICH with color! No prior art experience needed, just the love to play. We will apply a spray sealer to preserve your paintings at the end of the evening. Bring a friend and a dish to share. We will have the music, paints, and canvases. Just come ready to relax and unwind. Doors open at 6:00 PM for mix and mingle.
Painting workshop begins at 6:30PM. We will be observing social distancing guidelines, as such, space is limited. $20 includes all supplies.
Thank you BACVB for the Arts Sponsorship Grant for allowing Palmetto Art Center the opportunity to teach our community about our local art and heritage.
