Have a chat with Darryl and view his Featured Artist exhibit as well as all Island Gallery West members’ work. Enjoy drinks and bites, and live music by Chip Ragsdale. About the Artist:  Darryl is a retired US Army Chaplain with 25-years of service in the US and Europe. He seeks out the unexpected subjects in his art as varied as a typical trailer court, repairman refurbishing a sailboat, or farm life in Wisconsin and Michigan. His plein air paintings record life in Cortez, one of the last fishing villages in the US, and other interesting urban and rural scenes in West Florida. You don’t want to miss his paintings of marinas and Florida wildlife so familiar to those of us who live here. His light-filled paintings of sheep reflect a background of spiritual shepherding, and his inclination to portray “Old Florida” scenes will inspire you to find a place for some of his work in your home. +++
Event Details
Even when deployed to the field he found some time to record in watercolors some of the breathtaking sights of Bavaria. Upon retiring as a civilian pastor, he and his wife Linda traveled across the country for two years, affording many plein air scenes (paintings done outside, on location) to paint, as well as artist workshops to attend.
